01Overview

Daylight from above

A skylight brings daylight into the parts of a building that windows can’t reach — a staircase, a double-height hall, a central courtyard or the middle of a deep floor plan. Light from above is strong and even, and a well-placed skylight can change how a whole house feels.

Overhead glass has to be safety glass. We use toughened and laminated glass for overhead glazing, set in aluminium framing and sealed with EPDM gaskets and structural silicone — because a roof light faces the monsoon head-on.

Heat is the other thing to plan for in Ahmedabad. Tinted, reflective or double glazed units help control the sun coming through the roof, and the size and position of the skylight matter too — Hitesh talks it through when he measures.

08FAQs

Questions about skylights

Something else? Call or WhatsApp +91 84888 90170.

What glass is used for a skylight?

Safety glass — toughened and laminated. Laminated glass matters most overhead: if it breaks, the interlayer holds the pieces together instead of letting them fall.

Will a skylight leak?

It shouldn’t, if the framing, gaskets and sealing are done properly — that’s where leaks usually start. We seal every joint with EPDM gaskets and structural silicone.

Will a skylight make the room hot?

It lets in sunlight, so heat needs planning. Tinted, reflective or double glazed units reduce it, and so does choosing the right size and position.

Can a skylight be added to an existing roof?

It depends on the slab and what’s above and below it. Hitesh looks at it on site before suggesting anything.

How do I keep a skylight clean?

Wash it from outside when it’s safe to reach. Dust settles on overhead glass in Ahmedabad’s dry months, so an occasional wash keeps it bright.

How much do skylights cost?

It depends on the size, the framing and the glass, so we don’t quote blind. After a free site visit you get a written, itemised quote — typically within 48 hours — showing what each part costs.
